A Late Night Return

A Late Night Return

It was only at major festivals that the Huang’s baby was brought home to join his family. Otherwise he lived with his Ah Ma. After The Autumn Festival, his elder brother’s usual chore was to take Bao Bao back to Granny.

~from New York. Returning home tonight. My husband Peter's Mother, Satia Hayes passed away yesterday at the good age of 95. She has returned home.

The light seems radiating from the boy's face, so gentle and tender.

  7. She would have loved this tribute to her, this beautiful light filled painting. There is grief there too, but the light dispels it soon. And she is present in the full moon. Full moon here too, and I saw a smiling face in it. My friend said it was only smiling at me because I was smiling at it :)

  11. I have a whole long story to tell you, which will be in my next blog post...but I just went in to check on Q after putting her to bed, and she is lying next to her baobao bear, their heads side by side on the pillow, sharing her warm milk with him, and the blanket tucked around both of them. It's amazing. This is TOTALLY unprecedented behavior on the part of Q, who has never cared much for any stuffed toy or doll before. I can hardly believe my eyes. Must be some sort of magic in that BaoBao.

It felt like one of those cosmic alignments :) I want your artwork to adorn my home too - and when people gape, I will haughtily say to people, "Oh yes, that's a Jeanne-Ming Brantingham, don't you know?"
