  1. Good morning, Jeanne! I can't remember how I found your blog, I think because of a comment you left on one I was reading. Anyway, I adore your work! Also, congratulations on your new niece! She is beautiful! All that hair!
I was intrigued by your latest photo and curious about your painting process, you mention carving and etching, and I can see the texture in your work, but wondered if you can explain a little about how you do it. If it's a secret, I understand though. I also love the little story titles. You are amazing!

  2. Hi Jeann-Ming! Oh, my goodness, that is such an exciting idea! Thank you so much for telling me about your process! I have used molding paste to make a texture, but it gets so hard. Would you mind if I tried this, using my own style of painting, of course?

  4. Jeanne- Ming,
Oh thank you, I can't wait to try it! Would you mind if I did a little feature on you in my blog?
I would use one of your images and talk about how much I like your work.

  6. Hi Jeanne,
Congrats on the new baby in the family. I would never have found you if it weren't for Julie Fillo. Your work is like nothing I've ever seen. Reminds me of story wood carvings my husband brought from the South Pacific.
Boy, do I want to try joint compound! I just had a good portion of my house painted and they left half a bag of the dry stuff. Lucky me!

  8. Jeanne-Ming,
Another question, do you have to sand the wood before you apply the drywall compound, or does it just stick?
Also, are you really in Coupeville, WA? Do you ever teach? I would be first in line for a workshop. I got a ton of nice comments on your work from my blog and facebook. Thanks for letting me share you!

  9. Julie, Thanks so much. I enjoyed your followers too. No, I don't sand the wood before I apply the drywall. and yes I really live in coupeville. I've never thought about teaching, but if you are around whidbey Island, LaConner, or Anacortes, I will happily show you. There has been some talk of a class in LaConner at the old Bunnies By The bay studio....stay tuned.

  10. Jeanne, I would love to take a class from you too. Your stories and paintings are so lovely and full of careful observation. I like that spirit very much. I have put you on my bloglines hoping for an announcement and since I live in Oregon it would be an easy trip north for me. (You could teach Julie and I in your home ... make us bring our own lunch and charge us a lot - lol!) xo

  11. Your art and stories have such depth to them, that is why I think all the layers you work with are so important to the final result of your pieces. They make me look deeper into the life behind the images.
